The short version: One Thing has no accounts and no servers of its own. Your tasks, streaks, and reflections stay on your device and, if you enable it, sync privately through your own iCloud. We don't collect, sell, or see your personal data.
Information we collect
One Thing does not require an account and does not operate its own analytics or user database. We do not collect your name, email, location, contacts, or the contents of your tasks. There is no advertising SDK and no third-party tracking in the app.
Data stored on your device
The things you create in One Thing — your daily task, completion history, streaks, reflections, moods, theme, and notification settings — are stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device database (SwiftData) and system preferences. This data never leaves your device unless iCloud sync is enabled.
iCloud sync
If you are signed in to iCloud and have iCloud enabled for One Thing, your data may sync across your Apple devices through your private iCloud account. This is handled entirely by Apple's CloudKit; the data lives in your personal iCloud storage and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We cannot access the contents of your iCloud data.
Notifications
With your permission, One Thing schedules local notifications on your device — a daily reminder, an optional evening check-in, and focus-timer alerts. These are generated on-device and are not sent through any server. You can turn them off at any time in the app or in iOS Settings.
Purchases
One Thing is free. If you choose to leave a tip or unlock premium themes, the transaction is processed by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. We never see your payment details. Purchase handling is subject to Apple's Media Services Terms.
Analytics & crash data
We do not embed third-party analytics. If you have opted in to share diagnostics with Apple at the system level, Apple may provide us with anonymized, aggregated crash reports through App Store Connect. This data is not tied to your identity and is used only to fix bugs.
Children's privacy
One Thing is a general-audience productivity app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
You are always in control of your data. You can delete any task or your entire history inside the app, disable iCloud sync in iOS Settings, and remove all data by deleting the app. Deleting the app removes the local database; to remove synced data, sign in to iCloud and delete One Thing's data from your iCloud settings.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be noted in the app or on this page.
